Have you noticed the effects of sun damage on your skin? Perhaps you would like to improve the appearance and texture of your skin?

If you’re looking for an anti-ageing treatment to tackle fine lines and wrinkles on your face, neck or chest, it’s worth considering laser therapy. Designed to stimulate collagen and promote vibrant, healthy-looking skin, the treatment is highly effective. Best of all, there are no uncomfortable side-effects, like bruising or skin irritation.

Here’s how Laser Genesis skin therapy works, and what you can expect from the treatment.

What is Laser Genesis skin therapy?

Laser Genesis skin therapy is an innovative and non-invasive treatment that is designed to target a number of skin conditions often associated with sun damage and premature ageing, including:

  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • scars caused by acne
  • large pores
  • uneven skin

The treatment is generally applied to the face, neck and chest areas.

How does it work?

The upper dermis, which is the inner layer of the two main layers that make up your skin, is made up of connective tissues, blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles, oil and sweat glands. Laser Genesis skin therapy works by heating up the upper dermis. This stimulates and accelerates the production of collagen—a long-chain amino acid and the most abundant protein in the human body. Laser Genesis skin therapy helps to improve the appearance of wrinkles and unevenness by increasing the skin’s elasticity. Additional heat is applied to the skin in order to reduce redness caused by dilated capillaries.

What can I expect from the treatment?

Before your treatment begins, your practitioner will carefully clean your face and evaluate your skin. Everyone’s skin is different, so it’s important that your treatment plan is customised according to your unique needs and expectations. The number of sessions recommended will depend on the condition you are having treated, as well as the extent of the damage. Most patients require between three and six treatments for optimal results.

Next, the laser treatment is applied with the use of a handpiece, which your practitioner will move back and forth just above your skin. In fact, the laser heats the surface of the skin very gently, creating a soft, warm feeling as the handpiece is moved around the site of treatment. Some patients even find the treatment, which generally takes around 30 minutes per session, to be quite relaxing and therapeutic. Some patients experience mild redness after the treatment. If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to discuss them with your practitioner.

Does it really work?

Laser Genesis skin therapy has been scientifically and clinically proven to produce new collagen, which is the element that gives the skin its suppleness and youthful appearance. After undergoing laser skin therapy, you can expect to notice: a more even skin tone and a much healthier-looking complexion, and minor imperfections on your skin will fade. Visible results tend to improve after each treatment session and will generally last between three to six months after your last treatment. While the treatment is highly effective, we do recommend that you apply sunscreen daily and practise safe sun protection habits to maintain your results.
